New York Early Career Ethics Workshop Series
The New York Early Career Ethics Workshop was founded in 2013 and is a pre-read, discussion-focused workshop series for research papers in Philosophical Ethics (broadly construed). As of 2018, it is being organized by Robert MacDougall (New York City College of Technology, CUNY). Please email Robert if you wish to be involved. For more information about the workshop prior to 2018, see below.
The founding organizers of the group were Barry Maguire (NYU) and Gerard Vong (Fordham). The founding members of the group were Eden Lin (Rutgers), David Frank (NYU), Sari Kisilevsky (CUNY), Colin O'Neill (NYU) and Jada Strabbing (Fordham). The workshop group now has members from CCNY, Queens College at CUNY, Fordham, NYU, Princeton, Rutgers and Seton Hall universities. Others join the group while visiting universities in the greater New York City area. Each member presents approximately one to two papers each year and meetings happen once or twice a month. Meetings are held at locations throughout New York City. All members make an effort to attend all sessions. When we are unable to do so, we sometimes try to give presenting authors feedback in some other way (such as written comments via email or Skype).
In 2014, Barry Maguire moved to UNC Chapel Hill and Gerard Vong visited the Australian National University, so the workshop was organized by Jada Strabbing (Fordham) and Eden Lin (Rutgers). Gerard Vong resumed organization with Eden Lin in 2015. In Spring 2016, it was organized by Nicolas Delon (NYU). In the 2016-17 academic year, it was organized by Duncan Purves (NYU).
We are grateful to Fordham University's Deans of Arts and Sciences Council, Fordham University's Philosophy Department & the Three Philosophers Brewery, Ommegang, for their previous support of the workshop.
